Phlebotomy Technician CPT 1 |
In order to work as a Phlebotomy Technician in the State of California, you must pass the national licensing examination specified by the Department of Public Health in California, Laboratory Field Services (CDPH-LFS).
80 Hours of Quality Instruction and Training
Completion of the 80 hour Diablo Medical Training (DMT) program for CPT 1 will earn the student a Certificate of Completion stating that all the CDPH-LFS education and training requirements have been met. Those same requirements prepare the students to sit for the National Exam; and after passing the National and with the Certificate of Completion, graduates can apply for their State of California phlebotomy license. The Diablo Medical Training Phlebotomy Program is approved by the California Department of Public Health, Laboratory Field Services (CDPH-LFS). This eighty (80) hour program consists of two parts: didactic and practical. Forty plus (40+) hours of classroom training includes the required forty (40) hours CDPH-LFS didactic training plus practical skills development, all over a six (6) week period. The practical portion of the program is forty (40) hours of practical training in a clinical environment, an externship. The externship is one week, Monday through Friday, during the regular business hours for the clinical site. Externship site assignment is subject to availability but is generally scheduled and completed in less than 4 weeks after the didactic final. Classroom instruction is at the Brentwood Campus, located at 929 Second Street, Suite 18, Brentwood, CA 94513. Please download the Certified Phlebotomy Technician 1 (CPT1) program catalog and the Enrollment Agreement for more details, including program costs and professional continuation. The links to both are provided below. Successful graduates receive the Diablo Medical Training Certificate of Completion. Students will find that the Diablo Medical Training tuition and course fees are highly competitive, among the lowest in the region.
